Water Leak Detection

In data centers, water-related risks (CRAC/CRAH drains, cooling lines, humidifiers, chiller rooms, ceiling and floor penetrations) pose a significant threat to critical infrastructure. Leak detection systems, using cable-type (rope) or point sensors, provide early warnings around raised floors and racks, minimizing damage and downtime risk. ERFA Information Technologies integrates detection, monitoring, alarm, and automated response into a single architecture, ensuring operational continuity.

Detection Method:

Combination of cable (rope) and point sensors

Coverage:

Under raised floors, rack bases, and mechanical rooms

Zoning:

Line-based zoning and location-based alarm addressing

Integration:

Event logging, trend analysis, and remote alarms via DCIM/BMS

Response:

Automatic valve closure and staff guidance scenarios

Application Areas:

CRAC/CRAH, chiller–pump rooms, ceiling/pipe penetrations

In system architecture, sensor cables are routed along high-risk paths with sealing details; point sensors are installed at drains, elbows, and connection points. Controllers are configured with threshold values, delay times, and false alarm filtering. When an event occurs, alarms are executed synchronously with visual–audible alerts, SMS/email notifications, and logging in DCIM/BMS.

"Water can halt systems in minutes; early detection eliminates the risk in seconds."

ERFA conducts wet tests, sensor continuity checks, and zone verification before commissioning; automatic valves, drain pumps, and emergency scenarios are tested on-site. Periodic maintenance includes sensor calibration, cable integrity testing, and site-specific risk assessments. This ensures leaks are detected before escalation, maintaining equipment and operational safety.
